5 Easy PTA Events

Planning school events doesnt have to feel overwhelming- simple ideas can make the biggest impact. These 5 easy PTA events are fun, low stress, and completely doable, even with a small volunteer team.
If you are looking for quick wins that parents and students will love, these ideas are the perfect place to start.

Why simple PTA events matter

We are always busy doing all the things. You know family things, work things, and now school things. Here are some simple, easy PTA events that can help give you some quick wins for your school!

These ideas are fun and, most importantly, not too complicated and will not take up too much time to coordinate. These small events do matter as they build awareness at your school and build excitement. You can schedule these out a few months in advance and work on a larger project in the meantime.

Engage your PTA group and volunteers with your ideas, and see who would like to show up and shine for a couple of hours to volunteer. Your ideas may spark some energy in the volunteer grou,p and this is how the group grows.

These pta events are not that complicated to put on, but you will want to always communicate your ideas and plans with your PTA team and especially school leaders, so everyone is on the same page and aware of the activity that is going to happen. Your school leaders will let you know when this would be a good fit and/or let you know if this cannot be done due to some unforeseen issues.

Remember, your volunteers will likely need to be pre-approved to be able to walk the halls, so be prepared early with your list of volunteers for your school administration team, so you can get approval.

Working with school leaders and parents helps build the strong bonds your community needs — and don’t forget to have some fun along the way!

Teacher Treat Cart

This cute and friendly PTA event is easy to pull off and makes everyone smile!

Your sweet treat cart will be a giveback to your school! Showing how much you appreciate the teachers and staff.

Your volunteers will go around the school and visit each teacher with a treat cart loaded with drinks and treats.

Prep will be getting your hands on some rolling carts, picking up treats before the event, and coffee the same morning. If you can get more than one cart, that will help to get around the school more easily with coffee. If you can’t get rolling carts, no worries, you can always change the game plan and leave the coffee in the teachers’ lounge and let the teachers know when the volunteers visit the classroom.

You can make the cart themed for a certain holiday or school event, stocked with seasonal treats, depending on how your team wants to celebrate. You choose how you want to stock the cart with sweet treats, candy canes, juice, coffee, or water. granola bars and or cookies. Your teachers and staff will be surprised with a treat and hopefully feel appreciated!

Spirit Day Sticker Station

Whoa, super easy and fun! Did I say try to have some fun!

This is a give back to the students and teachers and staff can join in too!

Prep will be getting stickers, different positive affirmations, puffy stickers, and/or scented stickers, different sizes so they can be put on arms, hand,s or their shirts. This is not too expensive, as stickers can be bought in bulk cheaply. Set up a booth and engage the children as they walk in.

You can do this after the testing week is over to show the students their efforts are appreciated and to relax with some positive stickers after a stressful testing period. Students can stop by the booth and choose to take stickers for themselves and their friends!

Coffee Bar & Donut Station for teachers

I really love this as well, not too hard to put together, and the teachers will feel appreciated and could probably use the added sugar.

Just grab some to-go coffee stations/ containers of coffee (hopefully donated) from a local coffee shop nearby. Don’t forget some donuts, pastries, and some fruit for a healthier option, and drop off at school. You can drop off the sweets in the teachers’ lounge so teachers and staff can grab a treat. Leave a thank-you note next to the treats.

If you have some extra time, put the pasties on some decorative dishes or baskets. Add a ribbon and a nice note of appreciation.

This is small but touching, and if funds allow, maybe you can do this quarterly or monthly! It’s up to you!

Welcome student signs

This is a very cheerful active event where volunteers can greet students on the car drop off line and before the entry doors with welcome back signs with congratulations messages, positive sayings and funny messages.

This can be done on spirit week, or after testing is over or after summer break. Just a welcome back you are awesome type of vibe. Lots of cheering and excitement to show the students we appreciate them as well. It just takes about an hour or two in the morning, to set up and be ready during morning drop off.

This is totally flexible, you can add candy or stickers whatever your team thinks is awesome.

You can include the teachers and leave signs in the teachers lounge with some coffee and treats!

Read A Thon Boosters

Want to boost reading with some inspirational and small motivators like pencils or stickers. During a read a thon in the school students get encouraged to read new books, to keep the momentum going the PTA can host different boosters on campus every day.

Your team can set up a booth beginning of school or after and give out flyers with different activities for rewards and treats. Some fun and different options can be: reading under a blanket, read with a stuffed animal or read to a sibling. Make the activity fun and exciting and if they do it 3x they can come back and get a treat.

Something simple and fun and may give a little one encouragement to try and read that book again.

Prizes can be pencils, stickers, note pads, or notebooks See what you have already on hand that could be left over from another event.

Final Thoughts: PTA events do not have to be complicated.

First and foremost, keep it simple and fun. The PTA is supposed to bring school and parents together to foster an encouraging environment for our little ones. The simple ideas will help you show up in a way that fits your real life, with out a huge time commitment.

To keep the momentum going, keep it organized, plan ahead and give yourself time to do it slowly. Less stress will keep you and the team wanting to come back, who wants to spend free time stressed out. These small doable ideas can also inspire other parents to join in too!
